Does this offend you? Good, at least that's a response and hints at some degree of consciousness.

The primary cause of all of our problems today is human overpopulation. Do you know the facts about overpopulation and who is really to blame? Do you know why we are having a runaway population explosion? To find out what the actual number of children per family is for a stable population scroll down...

The correct number is 1.1. Does that mean anyone who reproduces more than 1 child is a social and environmental criminal? Yes, that's exactly what it means. Population control is every individual's responsibility. Ignoring or denying it is inexcusable and forfeits one's right to complain about the problems caused by it, and makes one directly responsible for solving those problems.

Ignoramus / Talking to the wall
« Last post by ignoramus on April 21, 2009, 02:23:31 PM »
Recently I was talking to the wall. I asked "how's it going". The wall said nothing. So I asked, "hello, are you there?". Still the wall said nothing. I persisted with "what brings you here?". The wall remained silent. I asked "how did you get here?". Still no reply. "Why are any of us here? What's the purpose of life, our very existence?" I continued, but of course still no sign of life from the wall. "Are you alive or dead?" I asked, then realized that if the wall were dead I would not be able to tell the difference between that and the response I had gotten so far. "So I guess that means there's a good chance you're dead?" I asked. Or it could be alive but unable or unwilling to reply. "Say something already, will you?" I demanded. Finally, the wall implied in a silent and hypothetical way without actually responding physically, "You sure ask a lot of questions."

Ignoramus / The value of a pretty face
« Last post by ignoramus on April 15, 2009, 11:22:57 PM »
How important is a pretty face for success in music? For that matter, how important is a pretty face for success at just about anything? It doesn't take an Einstein to figure out that a pretty face is a big advantage. But does it guarantee success? Definitely not. The important thing is that a pretty face opens many doors.

In contrast many doors slam shut on an ugly face. Is that fair? What does it matter? Fairness is just an abstract notion, another illusion in our fantasy ridden mental world. So does that mean there is no hope for an ugly face? Not necessarily, it means an ugly face has to have some other strong attribute and will generally have to work a lot harder to achieve the same goal, either that or just be incredibly lucky. Certainly everyone can think of lots of examples of incredibly ugly successful people. Who am I thinking of right now? If any name comes to mind then you know it's the truth. If not you don't know the truth yet, but the truth is out there.

Ignoramus / So just what is this blog stuff anyway?
« Last post by ignoramus on April 11, 2009, 09:38:28 PM »
I feel I must comment on the word blog. I hate the word, it sounds like throwing up. What is it really though, just verbal masturbation? Sure, most of the time. Do you know the origin of the word blog? It's derived from weB LOG. Doesn't that sound really nerdy? Of course it does. So that means anyone who blogs is a nerd. Except for me of course because I don't blog. I'm not logging anything, I btalk or bdictate but not blog.

But relax, nerdiness is back in style in a big way. Take texting for example. It's just another nerdy use of a cutesy new technology primarily invented for antiseptic sexual foreplay at a distance. But the sexual foreplay isn't real, it's an electronic reproduction of typed letters passed through encoders, decoders, network cables, switches, modems, satellites...whatever, completely removed from the original source. How nerdy can you get? Everyone is going to look back on this stuff with deep shame and disbelief.

Do you accept telephone communication as the "real thing?". It's essentially no different from texting. It may be a relatively old technology, originally pure analog electronics, but it's just a reproduction of sound passed through converters, cables, amplifiers, repeaters, satellites...whatever. There's nothing real about it at all. The original sound is broken down into electrical impulses and those are mangled and transmitted somewhere then used to drive a speaker or transducer that approximately tries to reproduce the original sound. So if you think you are hearing someone's voice on a telephone, you're not, it's an illusion.

So what's point of all this? I have an image in my mind of a single panel cartoon drawing. There's someone doing something really nerdy or rude like sitting in a car in the middle of a pack of cars idling at a stop light and playing really crappy music on the car stereo at extremely high volume so that everyone else within a mile can hear it. And the nerd in the middle has a think cloud reading "They all think I'm so cool". And all of the people in the other cars have thought clouds too and all of them read in unison "Asshole". Now that's the truth.

« Last post by axomoxa on April 01, 2009, 03:18:58 PM »
The help information is a little thick, so to make it easy just click on a topic and you'll get another menu. Use NEW TOPIC to either start a new one (enter a subject) or add a message to an old one (leave subject blank). Or you can select a message from the topic screen and REPLY to it.

For a lot more details on how to do things here, click the HELP button in the menu along the bottom edge of the top box. In the help screen there are choices at the top of the help box. Click Posting for the intense details.
